2008 LIWC Meeting
The 52nd Annual Meeting of the
Livestock Insect Workers’ Conference will be held June
15-18, 2008 at the Country Club Plaza Marriott Hotel,
located at 4445 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
(A block of rooms have been reserved, so be sure to refer to the LIWC when making
reservations for the best rate.) The Plaza area is noted for
it’s fine restaurants and shopping as well as cultural and
historical sites. www.countryclubplaza.com.
The meeting will begin Sunday, June 15th at 1:00pm and will
conclude Wednesday, June 18th at noon. The meeting will be
hosted by the local arrangements committee represented from
area animal health companies. More information will be forthcoming
and a new LIWC information website is under construction.
The program will include a keynote address on the heritage and assets comprising the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, a symposium on legal and veterinary forensic entomology ,and presentations on agro-terrorism and the protection of the worldwide food supply.
A social and recreational program for spouses and families is being planned to take advantage of area sites and activities including the Nelson Atkins Museum (www.nelson-atkins.org), Worlds of Fun, (www.worldsoffun.com) and of course the annual Dung Beetle Classic golf tournament. Monday afternoon, June 16th will be open for the golf tournament or other activities you would like to enjoy while in Kansas City.
The LIWC awards banquet will be held on the evening of Tuesday, June 17th, hosted by Bayer Animal Health at their local campus which will include famous Kansas City BBQ and entertainment.
